Grease the Musical
Grease the Musical
When: Friday, 12 Sep 2014 - Saturday, 20 Sep 2014
Location: Theatre Royal, Timaru
The  award winning hit musical, Grease, returns to Timaru’s Theatre Royal for one week only in a brand new production featuring James Foster as Danny and Hannah Burgess as Sandy.
This is the original musical, featuring all the unforgettable songs from the hit movie, including You’re The One That I Want, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Greased Lightnin’, and many more. This is Grease as you know and love it.
The celebrated story of Danny and Sandy, and how America was changed in the 1950s by Rock ‘n’ Roll, the revolutionary new age of sexual freedom and the advent of the ‘teenager’.
With the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies, a stage cast of 30 and live music from The Soul Agency, this show has more Rock ‘n’ Roll than you can shake a stick at.
Grease has been an enormous success since the early 1970s, and this production by the South Canterbury Drama League promises to be the most electrifyin’ extravaganza on stage.  Definitely the one you won’t want to miss.
On Stage 12- 20 September 2014.  Tickets now selling.
Space Camp NZ 2014
Space Camp NZ 2014
When: Friday, 19 Sep 2014 - Sunday, 21 Sep 2014
Location: Raincliff Youth Camp, 30 kms inland from Timaru

The idea for Space Camp NZ was born out of a need to provide an opportunity for amateur astronomers to learn more. Even though there are a number of astronomy camps we felt a need  to expand on this with a range of speakers and opportunities for beginners. The program is aimed at beginners and intermediate astronomers, we are fortunate to be supported by several organizations locally and globally.

Our speakers are all experienced amateur and professional astronomers in their respective fields. Three of the keynote speakers are leaders in their fields globally, one from Germany and two from the USA.

A weekend of fun and learning about astronomy.

Sea2Sea Challenge
When: Monday, 22 Sep 2014 - Friday, 31 Oct 2014
Location: For the past 11 years, Sport Canterbury's Sea2Sea Challenge has encouraged workplaces, schools and community groups in South Canterbury to get out and exercise every day. The Challenge is a non-profit event and it is free for everyone who takes part.

The Sea2Sea Challenge is a virtual crossing which covers 240km over 40 days. Participants travel from the Tasman Sea to the shores of Caroline Bay by doing just 30 minutes of daily activity. Although participants do not actually make the trip, the amount of physical activity they do over the 40 days should equate to the 240km distance.

This challenge is a non-profit event funded by the South Canterbury District Health Board, organised by Sport Canterbury, and supported by the Heart Foundation, the Cancer Society, and many businesses in South Canterbury, which donate their products and services.

The Sea2Sea Challenge is free for everyone who takes part and aims to encourage participants throughout the community to become active by integrating physical activity into their daily routines and establishing life-long behaviour change.
