Patrick Tyman: 15 15 15
Patrick Tyman: 15 15 15
When: Monday, 10 Mar 2014 - Sunday, 18 May 2014
Location: Aiganitghe Art Gallery 49 Wai-iti Road Timaru

This exhibition showcases the colourful, vibrant and intricately detailed paintings of Patrick Tyman.

The title '15 15 15' represents the three geographical and cultural periods of the artist's life: born and raised for 15 years in India, then lived for 15 years in England, and Tyman has now lived for 15 years in New Zealand.

Living in three different countries has influenced my work profoundly and my art has been shaped and developed in directions     related to each culture.

         - Patrick Tyman

Tyman's seventeen larger-than-life oil paintings on loose canvas will be on show in the Main Gallery until May 18.

Mackenzie Highland Show
When: Monday, 21 Apr 2014
Location: Showgrounds, Gillingham Street, Fairlie. Parking available off of School Road, Fairlie.

The 116th Mackenzie A&P Highland Show will be held on the 21st of April 2014.  The Mackenzie Show is always held on Easter Monday.  It is the largest one day Show in Australasia with 12-15,000 through the gates.  We sell over 400 Trade Sites, have more than 2100 classes to choose from in our schedule of classes and, each year, offer the patrons many forms of entertainment, competitions and attractions.  Some of the standard classes held annually are: equestrian (from miniatures to draught), show jumping, sheep, wool, cattle, goats, poultry (chickens, ducks and pigeons), donkeys/mules, home and farm produce, wine and home brew, cooking, flowers, patchwork, needlework, art, crafts (card making, scrapbooking, jewellery, etc), photography and school industry to name a few.  Other, more unique classes include dog trials, local pet dog, highland dancing, piping and solo drumming, alpacas and wearable art.  The Schedule of Classes for the 2014 Show will be due in your mailboxes the first week of February.  Closing date for most entries is on March 14th which gives you plenty of time to prepare your entries.

Annual competitions include a NZKC Show (we are one of the last A&P’s to host a New Zealand Kennel Club Show), Wood Chopping, Mackenzie Shears (a Shearing Sports NZ competition- it is the last round to select the New Zealand machine and blade shearing teams to travel to Ireland.  These teams will be announced at the Show), Mackenzie Cowboy Challenge (a points approved NZCCA competition), Country Kidz Agricultural Challenge and a Gift Lamb Competition (average 30, judged on hoof on the day, and on hook at the works).  This year Beef + Lamb NZ will be show casing through a butcher’s demonstration and a cooking demonstration by an ambassador chef.  We will also host the Regional Final of the Young Farmers competition as well as the inaugural “Mackenzie Country Mile” running competition.  The “Country Mile” will be two races. One a celebrity race with invited guests.  The other race will be a competition between different farming, or farming support groups, putting up a runner for a separate one mile race- beef, crop, dairy, sheep, shearers, stock agents, truckies, etc. Other attractions this year include a fashion parade, vintage machinery, a band, a roving children’s entertainer and a carnival.  The theme for this year’s Show is “Better by a Country Mile”.

We look forward to seeing you there!!!

Manpower Australia
When: Tuesday, 22 Apr 2014
Location: Caroline Bay Hall, Caroline Bay, Timaru
Manpower Australia heads to New Zealand for national tour
Presented by MORE FM and Manpower Australia
For the first time in more than five years, the rumble of thunder will be heard Down Under when the Manpower Australia storm heads our way next April.
Direct from Vegas and a sellout tour in Australia, the No. 1 Male Revue Show in the World will bring their world class costumes, state-of-the art lighting and dynamic dance routines to venues the length of the country. The limited but intense season begins in Hamilton on the 9th of April and continues throughout the main centers and many of the provinces.
The handsome line-up includes our own home grown talents, Aiden and Dave. Aiden is recognizable as a Kiwi by the elaborate Maori tattoos that adorn his chiseled body. Dave has the lovable guy-next-door look about him and, given that he cites his Mum as his favourite person, his looks are not deceiving!
In the last 20 years, the ‘Thunder from Down Under’ has gone from humble beginnings in a Surfers Paradise nightclub on the Gold Coast to a residency at the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas.
Manpower Australia has worked in over 15 countries to over 8 million women.
The troupe has appeared on numerous TV shows including Ellen, The View, Project Runway, 60 Minutes New Zealand, Drop Dead Divas, Today Show (US), The Morning Show (Aus) Entertainment Tonight and was voted one of “The 12 Top Sexiest Jobs in Las Vegas” by the E! Entertainment Network.
