New World - winners of 2010 Retail Award

Judging the premier business awards for South Canterbury is getting harder each year due to the high calibre of the entries received, according to Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce chief executive Peter Townsend.

As the spokesperson for the four judges of the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce Hospitality and Tourism Awards, he told the audience at the event that the decisions about category winners and the supreme winner were tough.

He said the range of businesses entering the awards was outstanding and the nature of their businesses was impressive.

The awards gala evening was attended by almost 400 people at the Caroline Bay Hall, with Waimate company Havoc Pork taking out the supreme winner’s title for the evening.
