  • Suggested Activities

A short distance from Geraldine stands spectacular Peel Forest ' a popular recreation area for those seeking peace and tranquillity. The canopy of towering podocarps hosts a rich variety of native bush and bird-life underneath, and there are dozens of tracks to explore.

For the more adventurous there is an energetic climb to the top of Mount Peel (Tarahaoa) or Little Mount Peel (Huatekerekere). From the top you will be rewarded with an amazing view over the Canterbury plains.

The nearby Rangitata River is renowned for its world-class salmon fishing - and thrill seekers can experience Kayaking and the ultimate white-water rafting trip.
