Straight 2 Work - Return 2 Work

A specialised programme that trains and assists people back into work. This programme is run in partnership by the Chamber of Commerce and Work and Income. The overall aim of the programme is to increase employment opportunities for those currently on a benefit, and once training is successfully completed to provide assistance in obtaining a job, along with career support for up to three months.

It has three phases:

1. Training in all aspects of your job search over five days: 9.30 – 2.30, Monday –Friday 

  • Learning about the art of transferring your skills 
  • Critical review of job advertisements 
  • CV updates and one to one sessions 
  • Using a network 
  • Resources for finding vacancies 
  • Professional standards – a reality check 
  • Interviews – question preparation, practice and feedback 
  • Setting goals and job hunting tips 
  • Planning through possible challenges 
  • The keeping of a job application log

2. Closely assisted Job Search for 8 weeks. Support and follow-up meetings with Employment Coordinator.
 
3. On gaining employment Career Support for three months
