| On display are over 1400 exhibits from the South Canterbury area. These include 101 tractors from 1912 onwards, and we are pleased to be able to display the oldest working tractor in New Zealand. There are 30 vintage and veteran cars from as far back as 1905. There are many items of farm machinery from hot air engines, stationary motors to a Threshing Mill. Also on display is a Binder and Chaff cutter, both used to harvest Oats and cut chaff for sale to the public. Suspended from the ceiling of the Car Museum is a 1929 Spartan Biplane, the only one in New Zealand and possibly the world. There are some interesting household items used by early settlers and a large range of agricultural equipment. Hours: 10 am to 4pm daily open mid September to 1st weekend in June. Admission: $7.00. Children free. Special groups and large parties by arrangement. Also open winter weekends or by request. |
